Just one more short post about pricing and the worth of your art before I move on to other topics.
I read a post the other day from an artist that was offered tickets to a Broadway show in return for their creating art for said show. This offer came from a show that has grossed over a billion dollars at the box-office, and basically boils down to them offering to barter for artwork with tickets worth a few hundred dollars. When the artist responded in the negative, they gave the old 'think of the exposure' line that artists have heard for so long.
Listen up - EXPOSURE DOESN'T PAY THE BILLS!!! Artists deserve to be paid for their work, just like everyone else. If you can't afford to pay for something, then don't buy it. If you are offering to barter, then you'd better offer something of equal value. Artist's prices are based on their talent and experience, NOT your budget. Do better.
That is all.
