Welcome to the official website/blog for Running with Scissors! I am very excited to have my very own place to sell my creations, as well as share my creative process.
I suppose the most logical place to start is an introduction. My name is Chris. I am a 40-something lady from rural Minnesota, who loves almost all crafty pursuits (my faves being crochet and quilting). In addition to crafting, I also love going camping in all corners of our beautiful state, reading, music of all kinds, and most importantly, my family. My kids are now adults, and involved in their own hobbies - but I love those too - just ask me about tractor pulls and demolition derbies. :)
I belong to a few online crafting groups, and one local crochet/knit community. They have helped foster my creativity over the years, and have stretched my imagination beyond what I ever thought I could make. I often get requests from friends or family, like "Do you think you could make something like this?", along with a generic photo or description of some idea they had - and I love the challenge of making those things come to life. Check out the Uterus Rice Pack in my shop - It's a prime example of a challenge that I took on, and ended up taking even farther than originally planned.
Sometimes, like in the case of the uterus, I make the same item over and over again, or even create and sell the pattern. But more often than not, many of my items are one-and-done. Meaning I only create it once, and when it is sold, you won't see it again. This happens with things like my cacti/succulents. I may make the same shape cacti more than once, but because the pots come from thrift stores or clearance sections, there are never two that are exactly the same. Or with some of my stuffed animals; the smaller ones are made with yarn that is leftover from other projects. So they are random, and unique because of that.
