Being a MN girl, I am very accustomed to outdoor winter activities. Tailgating, ice fishing (yes, we really do that!), hunting, etc. Those activities are what I had in mind when I came up with this idea.
Basically, this is a can cozy that you stick your hand in like a mitten. It keeps your hand warm, and your drink insulated. Your hand doesn't touch the beverage, so it won't contribute to your hand getting colder. It also has a bottom, so there is no worry of the drink slipping out of your hand.
Of course, with the latest round of restaurant and bar shutdowns, this might also come in handy for those of us in the Northland, when we're having our dinners outside. For those that don't know, our bars/restaurants have been shut down to all but takeout for 4 weeks. The governor made an announcement yesterday that indoor dining is still closed, but outdoor dining can resume. Really? I consider myself a hearty Minnesotan, but dining outdoors in December & January? Um, no thanks. I guess I'll keep getting takeout, and eat it in the ice shanty.
Anyway, whether you do a lot of outdoor activities, or just want to dine outdoors without freezing your hand, you may want to consider one of these. I don't have the pattern for sale, but I do have several finished ones in stock. They make great gifts too!
