Chonky hippos and African violets

runswithscissors15

Since I started out the week with one of my patterns, I thought it might be a good idea to keep with this theme for a bit, and showcase a pattern each day this week.

This is one that I had a lot of fun coming up with. He is my uber-soft chonky hippo. I used velvet yarn to crochet this guy (except his teeth, that would be weird).

The best part is that you can make lots of different animals, by just changing up a few things. Want a pig? Use pink yarn, and make the ears more pointy. Elephant? Add a snout, and put an extra row or two onto the ears. I've also made this into a cow, a sheep, and a dragon, just by changing colors, and a few other tweaks.

In other news, the African Violet plant i mentioned in yesterday's post is done! I'm super-stoked with how it turned out. Will definitely be adding more of these to my craft-show inventory.

Come back tomorrow, I'll highlight my F-bomb pattern.
